The
City of Poway incorporated
as a general law city in 1980.
They have approximately 200
regular full-time employees,
another 75 seasonal workers,
and serve almost 45,000 citizens.
They currently use SunGard Higher Education
Banner®
Finance and HR. |

The
City of Poway began its relationship
with Evisions in 1994--soon
after they purchased the Banner®
Finance package. "When
we became a Banner® site
almost 7 years ago, there
were dozens of areas of improvement
that we wanted to address.
Like everyone else, however,
we had limited resources—and
not a lot of time," said
Peter Moote, Deputy Director
of Administrative Services.

enjoyed a great working relationship

Evisions
began by providing the custom
programming needed to jump-start
Poway’s SunGard Higher Education BANNER®
implementation. "It’s
great having someone to work
with that understands the
issues I’m facing from
a system administrator’s
perspective. Not only does
Evisions have great technical
assets, they completely understand
every aspect of SunGard Higher Education Banner’s®
complex structure." |

Payroll Check Solutions and
Purchase Orders |
As
Evisions’ range of
products grew, Poway
also purchased what grew to
be known as No-Step Laser
AP and Payroll. According
to Kevin Jones, Evisions
CEO, "We took our
custom programming experiences
and focused on a set of core
products that everyone seemed
to want. We were providing
custom solutions in a number
of areas, but it was the printing
features that we wrapped into
the No-Step line that everyone
was asking about." According
to Poway’s Peter Moote,
"Before the addition
of No-Step, we had to use
a line printer, manually insert
security keys and sign all
the checks individually. It
was all we had at the time,
but technology today is just
so much better." |

After
a rapid implementation, Poway
was able to print A/P and
Payroll checks on blank check
stock complete with signatures,
logos, data and MICR bank
line encoding. Every time
the indicated process (fabchkp
or phpchkl) is run from Banner®
job submission, the stock
is drawn from the designated
paper bin and printed. Staff
no longer has to use a special
printer, load it with pre-printed
forms, and monitor the process.
Implementation was achieved
without the need for staff
training, additional hardware
or software and no special
printers. And perhaps best
of all, there is no intermediate
step. Everything comes directly
from SunGard Higher Education Banner®. |
