The challenge
Reports went out. Nobody could tell who used them.
Before Argos, The Citadel relied on outdated reporting processes that created significant operational strain. Data was pulled from the Operational Data Store with limited confidence in its accuracy.
The rigid, one-size-fits-all outputs made it difficult to customize or validate reports, and any changes carried risk and skepticism among users.
Report delivery also lacked visibility. Teams were constantly e-mailing static reports, overloading inboxes and servers, with no way to track engagement or confirm whether the data was even being used. Real-time data was not available, and constant requests to rerun and resend reports only added to the workload.
“We were asking ourselves: Are people opening these reports? Are they using them? There was no way to know.”

Financial Aid felt it most
Even more critical were the challenges in Financial Aid, particularly around managing ROTC award invoicing.
400+ award recipients
Every one of them invoiced correctly, every term.
Different rules per branch
Each branch had its own billing process to follow.
One error, one rejected invoice
Then a manual search for the discrepancy, and confusion for students, instructors, and departments.
These challenges were compounded by limited support and inconsistent guidance from their previous system, making it difficult to resolve issues with confidence.

The solution
Dashboards instead of attachments
With Argos, The Citadel modernized its data approach from the ground up. Dashboards now let users interact with data in real time, filtering, customizing, and exporting exactly what they need, when they need it.
Instead of flooding inboxes with repetitive reports, The Citadel built dashboards that give leadership direct access to relevant information, removing guesswork and inefficiencies.
In Financial Aid, Argos let the team break ROTC invoicing down into layers tailored to specific billing requirements. That brought greater clarity, better tracking, and automated processes that run reliably without constant manual oversight. Students are better informed, instructors have better visibility, and every department works from a shared understanding.
| Before | With Argos |
|---|---|
| Static reports e-mailed and re-sent, overloading inboxes and servers | Dashboards users filter, customize, and export in real time |
| Data from the ODS, with limited confidence in its accuracy | Cleaner, trusted data that teams across departments reach directly |
| ROTC invoices rejected on any error, discrepancies found by hand | ROTC invoicing in layers per billing requirement, running on its own |
| Limited support and inconsistent guidance | Responsive, knowledgeable support from Evisions |
On top of these improvements, the responsive and knowledgeable support from Evisions has made a tremendous difference. The Citadel now has customer support it can rely on, adding trust and confidence throughout its data processes.
“Every question is validated, and solutions are found. I feel very connected to the Evisions team, and the rest of the team would agree.”

Argos has made these processes work so well that we’re able to walk away from them and trust that they’ll run on their own.
