Human Resources
Know where turnover concentrates, not just that it exists
Turnover by unit, pay equity by classification, and funded versus filled, run as governed reports from the HR data you already hold, answered before the meeting instead of rebuilt after it.
The situation
You know the employee and FTE numbers. You cannot act on them.
CUPA-HR's 2025 Higher Education Employee Retention Survey put one in four higher ed employees at likely to look for another job within the year. A campus-wide fraction does not tell you whether it is the advising office, second-shift facilities, or the three people who know how financial aid packaging runs. Nobody gets retained on the strength of an average.
01
Turnover needs two snapshots
Separations over average headcount, by unit, by class, over a period. Your HR system produces one snapshot at a time, so the calculation ends up in a spreadsheet.
02
HR waits behind the student system
Your reporting request goes into the same queue as everyone else's, and enrollment reporting outranks it every term.
03
Pay equity analysis is built by hand
Internal position and salary data lined up against the external benchmarks in a spreadsheet, by hand, and finished months after it would have been useful.
04
HR and Finance do not agree on what is filled
Funded, vacant, encumbered, and working are four different numbers living in two modules of the same ERP that reconcile once a year at best.
Governed self-service
Workforce reporting your team runs without filing a ticket
Argos separates who writes the query from who runs the report. Your team owns the classification logic, the employee class definitions, and the permissions. HR staff, and the deans you choose to include, run reports without an ERP seat.
A headcount and vacancy view built for deans does not carry compensation fields, and the view that does is permissioned to HR alone. Folder and DataBlock permissions decide who can open which one.
Approval routes get built here as well. Faculty contract approval is the common one, moved out of an email chain into a tracked process with a trail somebody can audit. Applications that write back to the ERP are on-premises only, so bring the specific process and we will tell you what is possible in your environment.
- Headcount and FTE as of a date, by unit, employee class, and category
- Turnover calculated from two snapshots inside the object, not in a spreadsheet afterward
- Vacancy, time-to-fill, and requisition aging by unit
- No ERP seat or login required, with unlimited users under the institutional license
- Dashboard Designer builds and shares workforce dashboards from the browser, readable on a phone
“Argos gives us the ability to produce many kinds of reports which makes our jobs much easier.”

SELECT unit, pay_range, separationsFROM DataBlock: WorkforceWHERE fiscal_year = :fyArgos X
The compensation question, answered before the meeting
A dean asks which roles in their unit have turned over most in two years and how those roles were paid against range. That is two snapshots matched on job classification, with a benchmark table somebody loaded, and today it is a project.
Argos Data Agent answers in plain language against governed HR data, and shows the SQL, so your team can verify the classification logic before the number reaches a cabinet conversation about people. Pivot Mode and Explore Data reshape the result without writing a query.
- Argos Data Agent for plain-language questions, with the SQL visible
- Pivot Mode and Explore Data for reshaping and exporting without a new request
- Answers grounded in governed objects and existing permissions, not an uploaded spreadsheet
- Compensation and personally identifying fields maskable or redactable at the DataBlock and column level
- Dashboard Designer, Explore Data, and Pivot Mode are included with Argos at no additional cost
- Argos Data Agent is licensed separately, in Core and Advanced tiers
IntelleCheck
Payroll and direct deposit without the manual handoffs
At the other end of the employment cycle is a payment run. Pre-printed stock somebody counts. A file crossing the network. A signature step that stalls when the signer is out. Advices that get assembled and sent.
IntelleCheck runs inside your ERP environment, so there are no transfers, no imports or exports, and no batch processing leaving payments unattended. Direct deposit statements go out as AES-encrypted, password-protected PDFs on a schedule, formatted with your fields.
- Payroll and direct deposit advices without pre-printed check stock
- Positive Pay included rather than sold as an add-on
- Complete audit trails covering who logged in, when, and every payment they processed
- Conditional signatures, so a run keeps moving when a signer is away
- Runs inside your ERP environment. Tell us which one you are on and we will confirm exactly what is supported before you go further.
“IntelleCheck by Evisions enhances the look of our checks and allows us to have electronic versions of the checks that can be accessed by students and staff.”

Position control
One number for funded, filled, and vacant
Position control is a three-way reconciliation between the HR system, the budget, and what is happening. When those live in different modules, the reconciliation happens in a meeting.
Argos sits above both, so funded versus filled, encumbrance, and vacancy savings are queryable in one object rather than argued from two exports.
- Funded, filled, vacant, and encumbered positions reconciled against the budget
- Faculty rank, tenure status, and workload alongside staff classification data
- Point-in-time reports for IPEDS Human Resources, EEO, and affirmative action, produced on the reporting date and scheduled every cycle, with the definition saved so next year's file is comparable
- Formatted extracts for compliance submissions, delivered on a schedule
- The Banner Starter Pack ships pre-built HR objects alongside Student, Finance, Financial Aid, and Advancement
Workforce questions as governed reports
Turnover by unit, funded versus filled, the annual compliance submission, run from HR data instead of rebuilt in a spreadsheet. See it in a demo.
In their words
HR and payroll, on what stopped being a ticket
Administrative reporting run across HR, finance, and student data, by the people who own the questions.
Outcome
Workforce reporting produced from governed definitions rather than assembled per request.
Outcome
Self-service administrative reporting for unit leaders without expanding ERP access.

Argos is the tool of choice. It has immediately changed the way we work, in that it has consolidated data so staff don't have to do hours of compilation any longer, and everybody's looking at the same information.

How it fits
Where this sits relative to what you already run
With your HR system
Your ERP's HR module remains the system of record for the employee, the position, and the payroll. Argos queries it directly through governed objects and IntelleCheck processes the payment run inside that same environment. Neither replaces it, and neither requires a separate HR data mart.
With Ellucian Insights
Insights aggregates data across Ellucian products on a managed data layer. Argos works directly against your own environment, covering dashboards through Dashboard Designer, conversational analysis through Argos Data Agent, compliance output, and scheduled delivery, on definitions your team controls. Most institutions run both.
Versus your current process
Today turnover is a spreadsheet, pay equity is an annual project, and position control is a meeting. It is what happens when the data lives in two modules and the reporting queue belongs to somebody else.
Trust and security
You take security seriously. So do we.
The Trust Center is published and the HECVAT is available on request, so a reviewer can start before anyone schedules a call.
Permissions are enforced, never overridden
A report can only be opened by someone your team has permissioned to run it. A headcount and vacancy view built for deans carries no compensation fields, and the view that does is permissioned to HR.
Authentication
LDAP group sync, SAML SSO, and permission tiers, configured once and applied across Argos and IntelleCheck.
Compensation confidentiality
Masking and redaction set on the DataBlock and its columns, so an analysis can be shared without exposing individual pay.
Audit trails
Who logged in, when, and every payment they processed, plus built-in imaging supporting state and federal retention requirements.
Data handling
Encryption in transit and AES-encrypted, password-protected delivery for advices and benefits correspondence.
Documentation
Trust Center, and a HECVAT (the standard higher education security questionnaire) on request.
Frequently asked questions
Questions we get asked first
Does this work with our HR module, or do we need a separate system?
It queries your ERP's HR module directly through governed objects. No separate HR data mart is required.
Can we produce a workforce snapshot as of a specific date and reproduce it later?
Yes, as of the date you capture it. The point-in-time definition is stored as a governed object and runs the same way in a future year; the figure itself holds when you run it against the frozen file you kept on the reporting date, because the HR module keeps changing after it. That pairing is what compliance submissions and audits ask for.
Can we calculate turnover without exporting to a spreadsheet?
Yes. The two-snapshot comparison lives in the report object instead of being assembled afterward.
Can a dean see their own unit without seeing anyone's compensation?
Yes. A headcount and vacancy view for deans is built without compensation fields, and the view that carries them is permissioned to HR alone. That is how a dean gets headcount without salaries.
Can we combine HR data with budget data for position control?
Yes. Argos sits above the ERP instead of inside one module, so funded, filled, vacant, and encumbered are queryable together.
Can we produce IPEDS Human Resources and EEO submissions?
Argos produces the formatted output those submissions require and delivers it on a schedule. The submission itself remains yours.
What is included with Argos, and what is licensed separately?
Dashboard Designer, Explore Data, and Pivot Mode are included with Argos at no additional cost. Argos Data Agent is licensed separately, in Core and Advanced tiers.
How is compensation data protected when someone uses Data Agent?
Argos Data Agent operates under Zero Data Retention, honors existing permissions, and supports masking and redaction of sensitive fields. It runs against governed objects instead of the raw HR tables.
Is this workforce reduction tooling?
No. It surfaces where turnover, vacancy, and pay pressure concentrate so you can act on them. What you do with it is your decision.
Which ERP environments does IntelleCheck support?
Support specifics vary by environment. Ask about yours.
How do employees receive direct deposit advices?
As AES-encrypted, password-protected PDFs by email, formatted with your data fields and delivered on an automated schedule.
Do we need Argos to use IntelleCheck?
No. They are separate products with separate purposes, and either works without the other.
Do users need a Banner or Colleague login?
No. Licensing is per institution with unlimited users, and report access does not require an ERP seat.
Who will we be working with?
People who have done your job. Our consultants and support staff came from campus IT and institutional reporting before they worked here, because higher education is the only sector we build for. Support is in-house, with no outsourced agents, and it is the thing customers raise unprompted more than anything else about us.
What does it cost, and can we talk to an HR team like ours?
Licensing is per institution rather than per user, and price is driven by institution size and product mix rather than headcount. Argos, Argos X, FormFusion, and IntelleCheck all carry unlimited users and unlimited connections, with no per-connection or per-report charge and nothing billed for people who only read reports. The one exception is Argos Data Agent Advanced, which is licensed per seat. Data Agent Core is unlimited. Tell us your FTE and which products you are weighing and we will give you a real figure on the first call, then put you in touch with an institution of roughly your size and ERP. Ask them about support while you are there. It is in-house, and it is the thing customers raise unprompted more than anything else.
